Mr. Randolph Locke to Savant Audio

I first spoke to Savant Audio over the phone four years ago. I wanted to visit the show room to see the latest in Hi-fi equipment. Joshua wanted to understand my current system and my desires for a hi-fi system before he sold me anything. After meeting with Joshua he came to my house to evaluate my system. He then recommended some upgrades based on my budget. The first upgrades included: adding a passive preamp $250 (replaced active Parasound, $900), adding Cardas interconnects, and adding Rega speaker cables. The difference in sound was amazing, for the first time I understood what the audio magazines meant by imaging and soundstaging. This was accomplished without spending additional money on my system, since the money I received from selling my preamp covered the cost of the upgrades. I was so impressed with Joshua's knowledge of how to reproduce optimum sound within a budget, I asked him to make additional changes to my system. He recommended replacing my big powerful solid state amp with one that would let the beauty of the music come through. He replaced my Parasound H2200 II ($1,900 new) with a pair of used Theta mono block tube amps (cost $1200). The improvement in sound was unbelievable, I could feel and hear the beauty of the music for the first time, voices were clear and very articulate, I could feel the air from a saxophone. At this point I did not believe my system could be improved any further, but I wanted to see if a new pair of speakers in my system would help. Joshua recommended replacing my Paradigm speakers ($2,000 new) with a pair of JPW speakers ($550). Soundstage, imaging and clarity all improved significantly. The following are other significant upgrades that Savant Audio has made to my system in the past four years: Upgraded wiring in preamp with Cardas wiring (added clarity and improved imaging), upgraded wiring in the tube amps, added Cardas Gold power cords (improved all aspects of the sound). Joshua, I would like to thank you for helping me enjoy the beauty of music. My system has provided me with many hours of listening pleasure. I also wish to thank you for spending many hours helping me improve my system, when you could have spent the time helping someone who spends much more money than myself. This is what sets you apart from the other guys who just want to make buck. You should write a book called "Enter hi-fi without hi-finances".
